We’re looking for volunteers to help pack weekend food sacks at Stevens Elementary School in Wheat Ridge. If interested, please show up on Stevens Elementary (38th & High Ct. – 7101 W 38th Ave. ) on Thursdays. (Every Thursdays during the school year). Check in at the school office by 8:20am. More volunteers we have, faster we can finish.

Wheat Ridge Business Association Announces 2024 Member of the Year and Rising Star Award Winners

WHEAT RIDGE, CO (October 30, 2024) — The Wheat Ridge Business Association (WRBA) is proud to announce the recipients of its 2024 Member of the Year and Rising Star Awards, presented at the annual City of Wheat Ridge Business Appreciation Awards Breakfast on Thursday, September 26, at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center.

WRBA President Lowrey Burnett revealed the winners during the event, celebrating two standout members of the business community for their significant contributions and involvement.

“It’s our honor to announce the 2024 Wheat Ridge Business Association Member of the Year,” said Burnett. “Our winner is recognized for their unwavering involvement, engaging presence, and infectious humor. Always smiling, this individual brings joy to every interaction and steps in to help whenever needed, truly embodying the spirit of community and support that defines WRBA. As Chair of the Programs Committee for several years, this person has played a key role in providing the ‘Education’ component of WRBA’s mission to Educate, Train, and Connect.”

Cheryl Blum Garcia’s ongoing dedication to WRBA has earned her the recognition of Member of the Year, highlighting her leadership and consistent contributions to the organization and its members.

Rising Star Award – Renee Schreiner, Mary Kay Independent Consultant

The WRBA’s Rising Star Award recognizes a newer member for their involvement and efforts to uplift the Wheat Ridge business community. This year’s Rising Star Award was presented to Renee Schreiner, a Mary Kay Independent Consultant, for her enthusiastic participation and contributions to WRBA events and activities.

The WRBA Member of the Year Award honors a member or business who has made a significant contribution to the WRBA community, standing out among their peers. Nominations are submitted by the WRBA membership, and the winner is selected by a vote. Past recipients include Lindsay Reinert, Intermountain Heath Lutheran Medical Center (2023), Peter DeWolf, Red Rocks Toffee Company and Margie Seyfer (2022), and Maki DeLaet, EduCyber, Inc. (2021).

The Rising Star Award recognizes a newer member of WRBA who has shown exemplary commitment and energy in their efforts to contribute to the business community. This award is voted on by the WRBA Board of Directors. Feed Your Soul Fund is the proud organizer of Wheat Ridge’s ONLY Turkey Trot 5K, taking place in Prospect Park on Saturday, November 23rd. All proceeds from the event fund the Feed the Future Backpack Program at Stevens Elementary School, ensuring every child has access to nutritious meals over the weekend.

Join us for our community holiday tree decorating event! Everyone is invited to decorate a tree in their chosen theme or design. Awards will be given in four categories: Schools, Businesses, Organizations (Churches/Non profits), and Individuals/Families.

Tree decorating will take place on the front lawn of the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center
starting at noon on Saturday, December 7 and must be completed by 3 p.m.. The
decorated trees will be displayed for voting during the Holiday Celebration until 6 p.m..
Awards will be presented at 6:10 p.m. before the lighting countdown.

The entry fee is $70 per tree. Trees, 5-6 feet in height, will be provided by Heinie’s Market.
At the end of the event, you may take your tree home or donate it to an organization or
individual. The dead line to enter is Monday, December 2.

*Tree decorations must be brought on your own and at your own cost

Title: “Goals, Grit, and Grace”

Growing up an average pool swimmer, Sarah persevered through setbacks and failures before finding her true passion in the open water. Hear her talk on how she shifted her goals, learned her purpose and became one of the best ultra-marathon swimmers in history, all while battling breast cancer. Through Goals, Grit and Grace, Sarah shares her story of dreaming big and achieving the things others believe are impossible.

She is also the first, and only, person in history to complete a four-way crossing of the English Channel. She lives in Colorado with her husband and their three dogs.
